1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are between you and Macro Chef (ABN 34 710 845 075), a registered business name of a sole trader ("MacroChef", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the MacroChef app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use MacroChef. By using the app you confirm you meet this requirement and can enter into a binding agreement.
3. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity under your account. Tell us promptly at info@macrochef.com.au if you suspect unauthorised use.
4. What MacroChef does
MacroChef lets you save, generate and organise recipes from text, photos, videos, website links, a written request, or photos of your kitchen, and provides estimated macros, shopping lists and tools to adjust recipes. Recipes and adjustments are produced using artificial intelligence. Nutrition figures are calculated from recognised food composition databases, including the USDA (U.S. Department of Agriculture) FoodData Central and the Australian Food Composition Database (AFCD), with AI used to fill any gaps.
5. Subscriptions, free tier and ads
- Free tier: a limited number of recipe extractions each month. You may watch a rewarded ad to unlock additional extractions.
- Paid subscriptions: "Standard" (A$3.99/month) and "High Volume" (A$6.99/month, subject to a fair-use limit of 250 recipes per month) provide higher monthly limits and remove ads, as described in the app.
- Billing: subscriptions are sold and billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play and renew automatically each period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Managing and cancelling: manage or cancel your subscription through your App Store or Google Play account settings. We cannot cancel or refund store purchases directly.
- Refunds: refunds are handled by the relevant app store under its policies, and by your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
- Price changes: we may change prices or plans; changes will not affect your current paid period and we will give notice where required.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the app, including not to: break the law; infringe others' rights; upload harmful, illegal or infringing content; attempt to bypass usage limits, security or payment; or scrape, copy or resell the service.
7. Your content
You keep ownership of the content you submit (text, photos, videos, links, notes). You grant us a licence to use, store and process that content as needed to operate the app, including sending it to our AI provider to generate results. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to submit any content you upload.
8. AI-generated content
Recipes, ingredient lists, methods and adjustments are generated using artificial intelligence, and nutrition figures are calculated from recognised food composition databases with AI filling any gaps. They may still contain errors, omissions or inaccuracies. You should use your own judgement, check ingredients and instructions, and cook safely.
9. Nutrition and health disclaimer
MacroChef does not provide medical, dietary, nutritional or health advice.
- Macro and nutrition figures are calculated from the USDA (U.S. Department of Agriculture) and the Australian Food Composition Database (AFCD), with AI filling any gaps. They are close estimates only, may still vary by ingredient, brand and preparation, and are not a substitute for professional nutritional analysis or advice.
- Allergen and dietary flagging is a guide only and is not guaranteed. If you have a food allergy, intolerance or medical condition, you must check all ingredients yourself and seek advice from a qualified professional.
- Do not rely on MacroChef for decisions affecting your health. Always consult a doctor or accredited dietitian for personal advice.
10. Intellectual property
The app, its design, branding and software are owned by us or our licensors. We grant you a personal, limited, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app under these Terms. The name "MacroChef" and our logo are our property.
11. Third-party services
MacroChef relies on third parties including Google (Gemini and AdMob), RevenueCat, and the app stores. Your use of those services may be subject to their own terms. We are not responsible for third-party content or services.
12. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the app is provided "as is" and "as available", and we do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that results will be accurate or suitable for your purposes.
13. Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other laws that cannot be excluded. Where our liability for failing to meet a consumer guarantee can be limited, our liability is limited (at our option) to resupplying the service or paying the cost of resupply.
14. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, and subject to clause 13, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, and our total liability arising from the app is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the 12 months before the claim.
15. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against claims, losses and costs arising from your misuse of the app or breach of these Terms, to the extent permitted by law.
16. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or misuse the app. You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time.
17. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated version in the app with a new date. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
18. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, and you submit to the courts of that jurisdiction.
